Leather's not just leather

Although it's not very a very forgiving fabric, leather nonetheless can be dyed and treated in a variety of ways, and so picking a nice men's jacket means choosing from the many different kinds of leather. Plain cowhide is a common choice, but some men prefer fringed suede or calfskin.

You can't beat leather for warmth and durability. When treated properly, a nice leather jacket will last for years. They do tend to be heavy, but that's part of the attraction of leather; the heft means it's solid and sturdy. You can expect to pay several hundred dollars for a nice men's jacket made of leather, but it's worth the cost, whether you're in it for the style or you just want to stay warm.
